Preparations are at an advanced stage ahead of the inaugural Miss India-Zimbabwe scheduled for the 10th of December next month at Meikles hotels in Harare.

One of the organisers Ms Rhea Babbar said the pageant was non-racial and was anchored on empowering the girl child to be responsive towards societal challenges they face.

“This pageant is not racially exclusive and it entails etiquette training, fashion and dress sense, deportment, speech and eloquence training including most importantly confidence building. It also highlights the importance of recognizing talent and empowering the girl child in our society to become more aware and responsive to challenges they face in society, “she said.

Ms Babbar also said the pageant was open to both married and unmarried women who were fashion oriented.

“The pageant is in two categories for participants to choose from, with category A being for the young single ladies aged between 17 and 25 years and category B caters for the mature and women who have an interest in the world of fashion and beauty,” said Ms Babbar.

The pageant has acquired a number of sponsors with the title sponsor being Leopard Rock Hotel in the Eastern Highlands. The winner will travel abroad to participate in the international, Miss India Worldwide to be held in New York.
